PINELANDS

The New Jersey Pinelands, also known as the Pine Barrens, is a fascinating ecosystem that is far from barren. Join us for a hike through the pine forest.

BEACH

Join us at the Jersey Shore near Ocean City for bird watching, plant identification, and the collection of aquatic species using specialized nets.

KAYAKING

Join us on the beautiful Delaware river for a guided kayak excursion with incredible views of Petty’s Island and the Philadelphia skyline!

The New Jersey Pinelands, also known as the Pine Barrens, is a fascinating ecosystem that is far from barren. It is home to many endangered species, carnivorous plants, wild orchids, fish, frogs, snakes and birds that cannot be found anywhere else in the world. Join us for a hike, approximately 3 hours long, through the pine forest, to examine streams, and identify rare plants and animals. Topics include: forestry, ecology, and water quality. Near Chatsworth, NJ.

Pinelands Field Trip FAQs

Our standard field experience is 3-hours, not including travel time. 

We can accommodate students in 3rd grade and up.  If your group includes a wide range of ages, we may need to plan a custom program.  Please contact us at info@aquaticsciences.org to discuss options.

We require a minimum of 20 students to book a field experience and require one chaperone for every 10 students under the age of 18.

$25 per student. the cost of 1 chaperone per 10 students (required) is included in cost. If there are additional chaperones, there will be an additional charge of $15 per chaperone. A 20% non-refundable deposit is required to hold the date of your program, and the balance must be paid in full 3 weeks before the program.

  • Programs cancelled with more than three weeks’ notice can be refunded, less the non-refundable deposit, or rescheduled within calendar year.
  • Programs cancelled with less than three weeks’ notice will receive a credit towards future program booked within one full calendar year.
  • Programs cancelled due to hazardous weather will be rescheduled

With a little sun and science, we will lead your group along a sandy beach, looking for signs of marine life. Participants should bring swim gear and a towel as they try their hand at plant identification and collecting samples of aquatic species using specialized nets. Located just outside of Ocean City, NJ. Topics include: oceanography, invertebrate zoology, and ecology.

Launching from Pyne Poynt Park in Camden, New Jersey, we explore the back channel of the Delaware River, the Petty’s Island shoreline and the lower Cooper River and learn about the plants, animals and aquatic life in the area as well as ongoing efforts to protect and preserve this amazing natural resource in the heart of Camden.

Our hands-on programs are designed to support your classroom’s science curriculum and enhance Common Core Curriculum Standards and Next Generation Science Standards. Whether you’re studying habitats or adaptations, these programs will enrich your students’ experience at Adventure Aquarium and create advocates for the environment.
