TEEN MARINE SCIENCE INSTITUE

Calling all high school students! Do you love animals? Do you dream of a career in science? The Teen Marine Science Institute (TMSI) might be just what you’re looking for! We meet one Saturday each month from October to June in our TMSI series. Join for one workshop, or all nine. Each workshop features a different science topic and provides an opportunity to study various ecosystems in-depth as well as the animal communities they serve.
Teens enrolled in a Camden High School are invited to apply for the Sharon Morrell Award, which covers all TMSI program expenses for one year.
As a TMSI participant, you will:
- Gain animal handling experience
- Explore a variety of marine and environmental science careers
- Meet professional scientists
- Develop field work and laboratory skills
- Participate in dissections
- Visit behind-the-scenes area of the aquarium
- Go on field trips to nearby environmental hotspots
Options
- A 25% non-refundable deposit is due at time of registration. Reservations made without submitting payment will not be valid and may be forfeit.
- The balance for each TMSI workshop must be paid in full 3 weeks prior to the program.
- We reserve the right to cancel reservations not paid in full within 3 weeks of the workshop date.
- If you need to reschedule, please contact us at least 2 weeks prior to the workshop date. Cancellation made prior to 2 weeks in advance will receive a refund minus the non-refundable 25% deposit.
- No refunds will be issued for any cancellation request made within 2 weeks of the workshop start date.
- All in-person programs will follow strict health, sanitation, and safety protocols outlined by national, state, and local guidelines.
- In-person programs have participation limits as per state and local guidelines.
- Due to animal safety, exhibit maintenance, and animal health, the Center reserves the right to provide alternative behind-the-scenes access.
- Students must complete a waiver prior to attending each program.
- Participants must wear closed toed shoes for behind-the-scenes access.
Virtual Teen Marine Science Institute

Registration & Refund Policy
- A 50% non-refundable deposit is due at time of registration. Reservations made without submitting payment will not be valid and may be forfeit.
- The balance for each virtual workshop must be paid in full 3 weeks prior to the program.
- We reserve the right to cancel reservations not paid in full within 3 weeks of the workshop date.
- If you need to reschedule, please contact us at least 2 weeks prior to the workshop date. Cancellation made prior to 2 weeks in advance will receive a refund minus the non-refundable 50% deposit.

Career shadow program

Career Shadow Program
Middle and High school students
Do you dream of becoming a marine biologist or caring for animals in an aquarium? Then come for a crash course in aquarium careers and join the Shadow Program! Students will see husbandry staff in action and go behind the scenes for a look at a day in the life of a marine biologist. This unique experience also includes a tour of aquarium exhibits and an up-close animal encounter and feeding.
Options

- Time: 3 hours
- Cost: $75
- Includes a discussion about colleges, possible majors of study, and class election.

- Time: 2 hours
- Cost: $50
- Focuses on what to expect in high school and extracurricular activies.

Junior Marine Biologist Camp

Junior Marine Biologist Camp
Our Junior Marine Biologists Camp gives children ages 10-14 an opportunity to dive deep into the summer camp experience and discover what it is like to be a marine biologist! Campers visit aquarium exhibits and behind the scenes areas, conduct science experiments, and encounter live animals.
Date: Weekly, June 26-August 18
Time: 9am-4pm (5pm with After Care add-on)
Cost
- $400 per week; $260 for 4-day camp week of July 4th
- Early Bird Discount (available until March 20, 2023): $25 off
- Adventure Aquarium Member Discount: $25 off
- Discounts cannot be combined.
- After Care (4-5pm): $75 per week
